The Winnipeg Jets have stayed out on the west coast and travelled north to British Columbia to square off against the Vancouver Canucks today. Manitoba’s top hockey team will get the opportunity to show off their talents on Hockey Night in Canada in a battle between two of this year’s top franchises. The Canucks are currently tied for the 2nd place in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins, while our Jets are deadlocked in 5th with the Colorado Avalanche.

The Vancouver Canucks have struggled a bit since they dropped a 4-2 decision against the Jets on February 17th, as it started a 4 game losing streak and a total record of 5-5-1 in the 11 matches since then. However, the Nucks have picked up wins in their past three contests, including a couple of big victories over rival Pacific Division opponents (LA & Vegas). Thatcher Demko has provided Vancouver quality goaltending this season (33-13-2, 2.49 GAA, .916%), but backup Casey DeSmith hasn’t been as good (8-4-5, 2.95 GAA, .898%). As shown by the Canucks’ 3.52 goals for per game, they have plenty of offensive stars and here are their top 5 scorers.

The Winnipeg Jets have won 7 of their past 9 games, including a shut-down performance against the Kraken on Friday evening. Our squad kept pace with their rivals (Stars/Avalanche) with a win, but need to continue to pile up victories if they have hopes of the Central Division title. Connor Hellebuyck (29-13-3, 2.29 GAA, .922%) may still be recovering from the flu, so Laurent Brossoit (11-4-2, 2.11 GAA, .924%) may get in to back-to-back games tonight. Of course, Winnipeg added a couple new players (Tyler Toffoli & Colin Miller), but neither will be suiting up against the Canucks as they wait for their work visas to get done. Here is how the Jets’ top 10 point getters look at this point in the season:

As we await two of the Western Conference’s best squads facing off against each other, here is how their stats to date match up.
