Winnipeg Jets aim to whittle down their roster in the Minnesota Wilderness

After a 0-3 start to the pre-season, the Winnipeg Jets return to action with a divisional matchup versus the Minnesota Wild. It hasn’t been all bad for the Jets, this pre-season has seen the team ice a number of young lineups as they sort out their opening day roster. It surely hasn’t helped that big minute players like Andrew Ladd Bryan Little and Tyler Myers have been dinged up as well.

Puck drop is scheduled for 5:00 CST

Keys to the Game

Winnipeg Jets

Last chance. Today’s game may be the last kick at the can for a handful of kids. Brendan Lemieux, Chase De Leo, Josh Morrissey, Brendan Kichton, and others are likely nearing the end of their stay with the big club. Will any of these kids make a bold impression and extend their time with the big club?

What do you want? Apart from the guys who are clearly on the bubble, there are a number of players battling for NHL ice time and they are well aware that number will decrease greatly soon. Each player brings a different element to the table, so there may be more to this decision than production. JC Lipon plays a gritty, physical game. Andrew Copp keeps things simple. Joel Armia brings size and smarts to create a nice possession package. Thomas Raffl has size. Anthony Peluso fights. Nic Petan is wizard. Coach has stated that any of these players could be in the mix for 4th line ice, but they all bring something unique. The Jets need to figure out what they want from the 4th line before they can make a final decision.

Ladd, Little and Burmistrov. With Michael Frolik out, coach Paul Maurice is looking at all of his top line options. This has been tough with Ladd and Little hurt. A couple of the notable combos through camp have been Adam Lowry centering Ladd and Little as well as Little centering Ladd and Alexander Burmistrov. Will one of these combos start the season at the top of the Jets’ depth chart? Will we see a third or fourth option?
