The Winnipeg Jets have dropped 4 straight matches as the other Central Division teams are routinely picking up points, which has made the finish to the regular season a lot less enjoyable for us fans. Our squad did play better the past 2 games after a pair of miserable performances, but even then they were only able to walk away with 1 point.

After picking up points in each of their last 4 contests, the Vegas Knights now have a 6 point lead on the nearest challenger for the West’s final wildcard spot and with only 10 games to play, it is getting less likely that teams like the St. Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild can catch them. Perhaps Winnipeg will pick tonight as the day they return to playing somewhere near the level they did earlier in the season and help those squads out?

The Jets have amassed 94 points through the first 72 games of the regular season with a 44-22-6 record, while the Knights are sitting with 86 points in 72 games via a 39-25-8 record. If the regular season ended prior to tonight’s contests, Winnipeg would be facing the Colorado Avalanche (Jets 2-0 this year) and Vegas would be matched up against the Dallas Stars (Knights 3-0 in 2023-24).

The remainder of the True North franchise’s season doesn’t involve many easy games, here’s is ESPN’s schedule for the Jets’ final 10 matches:

With the morning skate a couple hours away, the lineups are unknown at this point, so let’s see how the teams match up:

The Knights are only 16-14-6 when they are away from the Strip, so perhaps the Jets will be able to take advantage with their 23-9-3 record at Canada Life Centre? Tune in tonight to find out.

I tried using a photo of one of Winnipeg’s defenders (Dylan Samberg) playing physical hockey for this article in the hope that it inspires a return to the suffocating defense the Jets have shown they are capable of. Crossing my fingers that it works.
