Preview: Jets at Canucks (Let’s try this again, shall we?)

The Jets blah blah Canucks, blah blah blah. Whatever. I literally have run out of clever ways to say “Maybe they will win this game!” Last night’s loss to the Flames was disappointing for a lot of reasons, one of the bigger ones being that the Flames were right behind them in the standings and those two delicious points would have tasted so good. Instead of yummy points though, we got salty tears of sadness. Le sigh.

The Canucks are a team from Vancouver. They play hockey and have a really freaky set of twins who I can’t tell apart on the roster. They also have an adorably odd goaltender named Eddie Lack who I will love forever regardless of how many wins and losses he gets. Eddie Lack is weird and he is hilarious. Lack forever.

Hey also, guess what friends?! GUESS WHO IS RIGHT BEHIND THE JETS IN THE STANDINGS NOW?!

Hahahahahahahahahaha, yuck. That's delightful. Buckle up, gang. Here we go again.

Keys to the Game

Winnipeg Jets

Do something good: Yep. That's about it really. Don't let in silly goals. Don't leave your goalie hung out to dry. Don't take stupid penalties. If your automatic reaction to something is to start throwing a temper tantrum, do the opposite of that. If you want to do the thing, disregard the thing. Do the goals instead. Be smart.

My Kingdom for a PK: No, not Subban (although I do adore him). I’m talking penalty kill here. While the PK was better in the last game (only one PPG let in) I’m still not ready to say that it’s all good again and everything is roses and unicorns with penalties. Dave Satriano (NHL.com) reported that Mr. Blake Wheeler had this to say:

"We're on the penalty kill too much and sooner or later, you are going to crack," forward Blake Wheeler said. "It's been a cause for concern, both being in the box and not being able to kill them off and hopefully we can just stay out of there."

No frickin' kidding, Wheels.

Vancouver Canucks

Whatever: Honestly, unless the Jets are determined to play the way they were playing a few short months ago, the Canucks will likely win this game. I get that every team slumps and all that but why now? Why slumping against the teams that have a chance at knocking you out of the wild card spot? Why?

I have no words anymore. I don't know. I'm in the depths of despair and I'm looking for that little ray of hope tonight.

Player to Boo Mercilessly

Alexandre Burrows. Just all of the boo. Also, Kevin Bieksa because I secretly believe he is a werewolf.

Not Eddie Lack. Do not boo that precious child. That's bad karma.

Prediction

Blowout loss

Jets 2

Canucks 11
