The Winnipeg Jets will be back in action on Friday night when they face off against the Anaheim Ducks at the Canada Life Centre. The two franchises are at opposite ends of the spectrum, with the Jets holding onto the #7 spot while the Ducks have the 3rd worst record in the NHL.

Inconsistent play and a bug running rampart through Winnipeg’s dressing room have been the recent story lines for the Jets. From the sounds of it, we could see Mark Scheifele return to the lineup against Anaheim, but it appears that Gabriel Vilardi will be out for a bit longer. Tonight would seem like an ideal time to deploy Laurent Brossoit (2.11 GAA/.924%), but you never know if the coaching staff will go with work-horse Connor Hellebuyck (2.34 GAA/.921%).

With two franchises (Chicago Blackhawks & San Jose Sharks) officially being eliminated from the post-season, the Anaheim Ducks are next in line to hit that distinction. The Ducks do hold the worst road record in the NHL with a 10-23-1 record, so they have that going for them. Hopefully the fact that the California squad have had below average goaltending this season (both tenders with a GAA above 3.00 and save percentages that aren’t above .900%).

Hopefully tonight’s contest is more enjoyable to watch that Winnipeg’s last game, but at least I have a Manitoba Moose game to switch to if it goes bad.
