No Words…Doanly Dreams – Jets Win 5-2!

21 years ago, the original Winnipeg Jets drafted Shane Doan 7th overall, but who cares about all of that? They moved to Phoenix soon after. Our Winnipeg Jets gave Doan a 5-2 thrashing by the beautiful Danish hands of Nikolaj Ehlers and our old friend Dustin Byfuglien.Ehlers, who scored a hat trick tonight. The last teenage to score a hat trick as a Winnipeg Jet was Dale Hawerchuk in 1983. Pretty good company, I'd say. This was a great way to close out before the All-Star break. During I presume of which, Chevy is working his hardest to resolve the Andrew Ladd and Dustin Byfuglien situations. Hopefully this win doesn't make him forget to properly manage his assets.

The Jets return to action next Tuesday at home against the Dallas Stars and close out the homestand against Carolina on Friday.

Some Thoughts:

  • Nikolaj Ehlers has scored 4 points (3G, 1A) with Chris Thorburn but 18 points (9G, 9A) without him. Watching Ehlers with more skilled linemates is a treat!
  • With how the season has gone so far, this was a good bright spot that shows what the future holds with some nice asset management. (Patrik Laine anyone?)
  • Dustin Byfuglien "Dab" goal celebration. I love it. I'm sure he'll be getting hate for it soon though.
  • Dreger estimates that Trouba's camp is trying to get a 6 year $6.75(ish) million deal. Is this worrisome?

How did you enjoy sending Shane Doan off with a loss? Do you still hope the tank is on after this victory? Do Trouba's contract wishes concern you? Let us know down in the comments!
