The San Jose Sharks are coming to Winnipeg to play the Jets for the final time of the 2023-24 NHL regular season on Wednesday evening at the Canada Life Centre.  The two franchises have played twice already, a 2 to 1 Jets’ loss in San Jose following the Kyle Connor knee injury in December and then Winnipeg followed that with a January 4th home win (also 2-1).  Not very impressive stats against the worst team in the NHL this season.

The Winnipeg Jets had just ended their 5 game losing streak with a 2-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins and will be hoping to build on that momentum four days later.  For the first time in a while, the Jets are down to 22 players on their NHL roster, with the news that David Gustafsson has been sent to the Manitoba Moose for a conditioning stint.  Both Gus and Dominic Toninato suited up for the Moose last night, but the minor league affiliate still dropped a 4-2 decision to the Calgary Wranglers.  There aren’t any expected changes to the lineup for tonight’s contest, so the new forward lines should have some more time to gain vital chemistry.  It is also the last game Brenden Dillon will miss due to his recent 3 game suspension, so big Logan Stanley will have 60 more minutes to impress the coaching staff.

The San Jose Sharks haven’t played a game since January 31st, so there could be some rust to work through for the visiting squad.  They will also be without key players due to injury, as forwards Logan Couture and Tomas Hertl won’t be in the lineup tonight. That being said, the Sharks haven’t been playing terribly lately, picking up a 3-1-1 record over the last 5 games that included wins over the NY Rangers & LA Kings.  If you want to check things out from San Jose’s point of view, try this:
