As the Winnipeg Jets goalie carousel keeps on spinning, as it was announced that Michael Hutchinson will start for the Winnipeg Jets tomorrow…and he is not even with the team right now or in Winnipeg as he is playing in the AHL All Star Game tonight.
Michael Hutchinson will play in the AHL all-star game tonight then fly back to Winnipeg from Utica Tuesday morning and play first game of season for #NHLJets vs. First-place Lightning Tuesday. Maurice giving #NHL all star Connor Hellebuyck the night off

Yesterday, the Winnipeg Jets called up Jamie Philips for the day to practice with the team. Today, they called up Eric Comrie for the same purpose. Tomorrow, they will call up Michael Hutchinson with the expectation that he will start tomorrow night’s game while NHL All Star goalie Connor Hellebuyck will get the night off. Make sense yet?
While it makes sense to reward Hutchinson with the NHL backup job after playing like an AHL All Star this year, it makes little sense to have him be the goalie starting after he has to travel back to Winnipeg from Utica, New York. Surly it would make more sense for Hellebuyck or Comrie to start instead.
