Preview: Winnipeg Jets vs. Montreal Canadiens

Time: 6:00 PM CST

The Winnipeg Jets and Laval Rockets Montreal Canadiens are playing tonight in Montreal. The Habs just placed four players on injured reserve and are in general struggling to field a line up while the Jets are first in the Western Conference. The Jets should have an easier time with Montreal than with some of the other teams they have played lately because they have been struggling so much.

A player the Jets will have to watch out for is Cole Caufield. Outside of a brief stint under Dominic Ducharme when the Habs looked like a listless blob most nights, Caufield has shined in the NHL. He seems to be able to score from anywhere which is bad news for his opponents. There is also Nick Suzuki who struggled to score goals recently, but is also a very crafty, very skilled player. Basically the Habs do have some good players, but they also have a lot of dead weight they are still trying to work through.

The Jets are going to want to keep on building on their recent string of wins. While their win against the Arizona Coyotes was anything but pretty, they still managed to pull out a win and gain first in the Western Conference. The Jets will be looking to maintain their level of play now that they are relatively healthy (although quite possibly still dealing with illness because it is what has been felling them lately). The Jets should be in a good place this game although they’ve had some interesting issues with teams below them in the standings before.
