Winnipeg Jets Training Camp Roster

Not a lot is surprising about the Winnipeg Jets training camp roster. From this group you can probably parse out who will be on the taxi squad and who is destined for the AHL if there is an AHL season this year.

For the forwards the Jets have invited Trevor Lewis to camp. Lewis was a capable NHLer who got derailed by injuries. There is the possibility that if he is healthy he could be a solid depth or taxi squad signing for the Jets.

For the defence Kevin Cheveldayoff mentioned Sami Niku with the main group of players on the squad which is a change from previous seasons. It is hard to say where others will fit in, but I doubt that Jimmy Oligny will be signed by the team. The Jets might be looking at him for the taxi squad as he has spent the past two seasons with the Winnipeg Jets.

There are no real surprises with the goalies and I would bet that Mikhail Berdin will be the Jets taxi squad goalie which is great for him. I do wonder if he can push Laurent Brossoit to be the backup this season.

Finally, Ken Wiebe notes that both Cole Perfetti and Ville Heinola can be added at the conclusion of the World Junior Championships and their quarantine. Fun times are coming.
