Defenceman Trevor Daley has retired from pro hockey. Drafted in the second round, 43rd overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Dallas Stars, Daley has 309 points (89G, 220A) in 1058 games, as well as 18 points (6G, 12A) in 71 playoff games, for Dallas (2003/04-2014/15), Chicago (part of 2015/16), Pittsburgh (partway through 2015/16-2016/17), and Detroit (2017/18-2019/20). Not always that potent an offensive contributor and weak defensively, Daley has usually credited the most for leadership and intangibles, especially once he left Dallas. He won two Stanley Cups, both with Pittsburgh in 2016 and 2017. Daley has career highs of 16 goals and 38 points, achieved in 2015 with Dallas, and 22 assists, achieved in 2015 with Dallas and 2016 with Pittsburgh. Daley finished his last season with seven assists in 43 games in the pandemic-shortened 2019/20 season. Daley will join the Pittsburgh Penguins as a Hockey Operations Adviser.
