Winnipeg Jets trade for Nathan Beaulieu

The Winnipeg Jets have traded a sixth round pick for Nathan Beaulieu from the Buffalo Sabres. This is a excellent trade for the price and the injury issues the Jets are looking at on the left side of their defence.

Beaulieu is one of the most erratic defencemen that I have had the pleasure of watching when he was on the Montreal Canadiens. Who could be a star on shift and then make the dumbest play the next moment. That said, he was a play-driving defenceman who has been traded for picks twice by two different teams.

In thirty games this season, Beaulieu had seven points including three goals. He also has a relCorsi of 4.68% and a relFenwick of 4.38%. All stats are from Natural Stat Trick. For more on Beaulieu, please read our trade target piece from when he first requested a trade. He would not have been our pick to be traded for considering the circumstances at the time, but injuries have changed a lot for the Jets in the last 24 hours and they needed to add some experienced, puck-moving depth.

Finally, the Jets have traded for 29 year old Bogdan Kiselevich from the Florida Panthers for a seventh round pick. This is probably a move for the Manitoba Moose.
