Winnipeg Jets recall Tucker Poolman

With Joe Morrow on IR and Byfuglien out, Poolman is back!

NHL: Winnipeg Jets at Edmonton Oilers Sergei Belski-USA TODAY Sports

With Dustin Byfuglien out tonight with an injury and Joe Morrow on injured reserve, the Winnipeg Jets have recalled Tucker Poolman. Poolman used to be the Jets go to call up when a defenceman was injured. However, a concussion that took him out for quite a while and Sami Niku took over his role pressbox popcorn connoisseur.

The fact that they Jets have called up Poolman as well as Niku might mean that Byfuglien is going to be out for a while longer or that the Jets want Niku to play in the AHL following the game against the Ottawa Senators tonight.

Tonight we will see Niku alongside Ben Chiarot in Byfuglien’s normal spot. The Jets have had defencemen in and out of the lineup of late with Byfuglien just returning from a long injury and Morrow now being out for at least a week.

As for the Jets other injuries, unless my eyes are missing something, there has been no news on Nikolaj Ehlers. He should be returning in the near future and the Jets are off until Wednesday so he could feasibly join the team for skates AND take contact before the Jets next game. Alas, the Jets are ready for Ottawa.
