Preview: Winnipeg Jets vs Detroit Red Wings

Broadcast Schedule
Time: 7:00 P.M. CDT
TV: TSN3, FS-N+
Radio: TSN1290, KFAN 100.3

Coming off of last night’s 3-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild on the road, the Winnipeg Jets are right back at it tonight against the Detroit Red Wings.

These two teams met once earlier this year, with the Jets winning by a 2-1 score. The fortunes of these two teams have been quite opposite this season, with the Jets hovering around the top of the NHL standings, while the Red Wings lurk in the basement, like an old couch that is well past its prime.

The Jets are 3-2-0 in the second half of back-to-backs this year, and it’s entirely possible that Laurent Brossoit gets his tenth start of the season.

Enemy Territory

Detroit Red Wings Coverage: Winging it in Motown

Last Jets Game:

Winnipeg Jets 2-3 Minnesota Wild

The Jets jumped up to a 3-0 lead before the Jets battled back. But alas, it was too little too late.

Last Red Wings Game:

Montreal Canadiens 3-2 Detroit Red Wings

I had no idea the Habs were doing so well this year. West Coast bias I guess.

Players to watch:

Winnipeg Jets

Patrik Laine has one goal in his past 11 games, so naturally the Jets should cut their losses and terminate his contract now. </sarcasm>

Laine has five goals in five career games against Detroit. May as well break the slump tonight.

Detroit Red Wings

Dear Jimmy Howard: to quote Good Will Hunting “it’s not your fault”.

Howard has posted a .916 save percentage and a 2.79 goals against average. Far from bad. Not terrific, but far from bad. But for whatever reason, he’s sitting on 29 starts and the horrible Jonathan Bernier has 18 starts. I don’t get it.
