The Winnipeg Jets and Buffalo Sabres meet on Friday night, as the Jets wrap up their homestand before heading out on the road for four games.

Buffalo and Winnipeg have similar records this season, and in their last five games, as Winnipeg sits at 23 points through 17 games, while Buffalo sits at 22 through 18, and both teams are 4-1-0 in recent competition.

With another helper on Tuesday, Blake Wheeler upped his assist total for the year to 21, which is more points than Buffalo’s leading point getter has (Jeff Skinner sits at 20 (13+7)).

Laurent Brossoit gets the start in net for the Jets tonight, and currently possesses a 3-0-0 record with a .957 save percentage and a 1.67 goals against average.

Josh Morrissey will be in the lineup, avoiding a suspension for a hit on T.J. Oshie. So Sami Niku will have to wait to make his season debut.

Players to watch:

Winnipeg Jets

Laurent Brossoit gets his first start since October 26, and his early season numbers have been very strong. While they can be expected to dip a bit, it will be interesting to see if the backup can continue to have good showings when spelling Connor Hellebuyck.

Buffalo Sabres

Coming off of a 25 goal season, the recently turned 23-year-old Sam Reinhart sits at two goals on the year with 6.1% shooting accuracy and a career low 1.83 shots per game. Sooner or later, he’s bound to break out.
