#NHLJets announce Mathieu Perreault has been placed on IR. Kyle Connor has been recalled from the AHL and will practice with the team today.— Jamie Thomas (@JamieThomasTV) October 16, 2017
The Winnipeg Jets have already placed Mathieu Perreault on injured reserve and recalled Kyle Connor. The need to call up another forward is not that surprising seeing as Adam Lowry is injured as well, but it is a bit concerning that Perreault is already placed on IR as it means that his injury will keep him out for a while if he recovers on time.
On the other hand, calling up Connor is an excellent move. He played well in preseason and after a tough start to the NHL last year, did quite well in the AHL once he was sent down. He has earned this opportunity to play with the Jets and hopefully he makes the Jets think twice about sending him down again as he is a better hockey player than some of the players in the Jets bottom six. He might not be an upgrade on Perreault, but if he is able to hold his own for the Jets in the NHL, he would help a line with Nic Petan and Marko Dano become more than a fourth line grind line once Perreault returns.
