Preview: Winnipeg Jets at Montreal Canadiens

Game Time: 6:00 pm CST
Channel: CITY TV

The Winnipeg Jets fly into Montreal on a high to face the absurdly lucky and terribly coached Montreal Canadiens. The Jets have struck a bit of luck though: Habs starting goaltender Carey Price is out for the time being with a lower body injury meaning the Jets get to face rookie Mike Condon and his sterling .944 save percentage and 1.67 GAA in three games. Small sample size but good numbers.

The Habs are reeling a bit after going 1-2 on their Western Canada swing. The Jets are flying high and playing well recently. Paul Maurice is smartly starting Michael Hutchinson against the Habs as Ondrej Pavelec is not good against them. Nic Petan will return to the lineup in pace of Anthony Peluso, which is another boon to the Jets. Never mind the Canadiens helping the Jets by not dressing Alex Semin and instead playing Bryan Flynn in his spot.

The Jets did play last night and even with these changes the Jets defence is still a questionable part of the lineup with Jacob Trouba struggling to the naked eye at least. Still, the Jets are a team that is improving possession wise since the start of the season and the third line is turning it around a bit. They still are a top-six heavy team, but if the Lowry line can help out with the match-ups a bit more they should end up alright.

Tonight should be a good game on Hometown Hockey with two Jets having friends and family in the stands and the Habs not playing that well recently

I never make predictions because I am a party pooper.
