Altitude Check: Monday, June 11, 2012 Winnipeg Jets News Headlines

Hey all! Here is our feature running Monday through Friday that will bring you up to date on what’s going on in the media pertaining to the Winnipeg Jets and elsewhere in the NHL.

Ed. Note: Now that we have reached the Stanley Cup Finals, Altitude Check will only be running on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Here is what’s in the news for Monday, June 11, 2012:

First it was Alexander Burmistrov, now it is Ondrej Pavelec. Apparently Pavi has been offered a contract by a KHL team. I am not overly concerned by this. Leaving now could hurt his long term NHL value, but I suppose an extended lockout could send a few players overseas. [Winnipeg Sun]

Here is a lovely breakdown of what we have and what we need on the left wing, full with quotes from Chevy. I tend to think of LW as one of our deeper positions, but after looking at this I remember just how bad the Jets depth issues are. Even if Chevy brings back Tanner Glass and every prospect centre is indeed a LWer, it still leaves a gaping hole on the 3rd line. [WFP]

Here are some pretty Jets pictures! [Jets]

Happy Belated Caps Day! It was one year yesterday that they got their team back. [Jets]

Much like we did on Jets day, our friends out East got to relive the return of their team. They also take a little look at the team moving forward. [Telegram]

In other AHL news, the Norfolk Admirals have won the Calder cup. Norfolk has now won 43 of their last 46 games. The beat the Ice Caps six times in that run. The baby Jets only managed to score 3 goals in those 6 games. That was a pretty historic run. [Raw Charge]

Apparently porn star Taylor Stevens will be back in the building for game six of the Stanley Cup finals. [Guess which Winnipeg news paper I got this from] Hint: They also included a photo and a video link.

If you want your game day news to include more hockey and less boobs this might work for you. [InLouWeTrust]

Brad Stuart is a Shark again. [Fear The Fin]

The Glendale City Council has decided that their taxpayers will pony up and fork over $325 million dollars to a potential Coyotes ownership group. So I guess things are settled… well aside from the potential ownership group not having completed their fund raise. Oh, and the potential for a lawsuit. The saga continues… [AZ Central]
