NHL Lockout Fun: Local DJ Parodies Taylor Swift

Ed. Note: I absolutely adore Taylor Swift. If listening to her music is wrong, then I don't want to know what's right.

Nothing says "NHL hockey" quite like a little southern country twang. Just ask Carrie Underwood's husba -- errr -- Mike Fisher about it.

The NHL locked out it's players late Saturday night, prompting a local DJ to create a lockout song that has gone viral.

Covering Taylor Swift's new hit single "We Are Never Getting Back Together" -- presumably written after a boy didn't wave at her in the mall -- QX 104's Vicki Shae stars as a forlorn hockey fan upset over the doom and despair stemming from the league's recent lockout.

The lyrics were written by Shae, along with her radio cohorts Brody Jackson and Jonathan Best.

While it's evident that hockey fans will have to suffer through this work stoppage for an indefinite amount of time, that doesn't mean that we cannot display some creative flair in trying to make the best of it; especially when it involves references to Taylor Swift.

Perhaps the next installment will feature a sobbing Gary Bettman, belting out Blake Shelton's "Over" to a cardboard cut-out of Donald Fehr.

"So tell me what I gotta do to win you over... You'll never have to wonder if you need another..."

Kudos to ChrisD.ca and Puck Daddy for the initial coverage.

Lyrics:

I remember when you broke up the first time

Players and the owners had enough

'cause you were only making like a billion bucks

But you said something about cap space (What?)

Then you come around again and say

Maybe we'll play another 80-something games

Trust me, remember how you hardly even played?

I said I love you, you broke up, you lockout, I hate you

Boo-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh you called your season off last night

Boo-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh this time, I'm wonderin', I'm wonderin'

Are you ever, ever, ever, getting back together?

Are you ever, ever, ever, getting back together?

You go talk to players, talk to Bettman, talk to Steve (Who's Steve?)

Are you ever, ever, ever, ever, getting back together?

Like, ever?

I'm really gonna miss your hockey fights

And you'd met me at The Pal on hockey nights

And I'd be tossing back a million gin and Sprites

'Til I thought I could take home a Jet -- I couldn't

Boo-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh Don Cherry's got time off tonight

Boo-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh this time, he's wonderin', I'm wonderin'

Are you ever, ever, ever, getting back together?

Are you ever, ever, ever, getting back together?

You go talk to players, talk to Bettman, talk to Steve (Who's Steve?)

Are you ever, ever, ever, ever, getting back together?

I used to think that you'd play forever, ever

Now it's just a game of whose contracts are better...

Are you ever, ever, ever, getting back together?

Are you ever, ever, ever, getting back together?

You go talk to players, talk to Bettman, talk to Steve (Who's Steve?)

Are you ever, ever, ever, ever, getting back together?

Are you ever, ever, ever, getting back together?

Are you ever, ever, ever, getting back together?

You go talk to players, talk to Bettman, talk to Steve (Who's Steve?)

Are you ever, ever, ever, ever, getting back together?
