Winnipeg Jets scratch Mark Scheifele for tonights game versus Pittsburgh Penguins

The Winnipeg Jets plan on sitting Mark Scheifele for tonight’s game, according to multiple reports.

Scheifele, who remains scoreless through three games split between Winnipeg’s third and fourth lines will be replaced with Kyle Wellwood who is being re-inserted into tonight’s line-up against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Wellwood will play on a line with Alexander Burmistrov and Alexei Ponikarovsky while the fourth line of Chris Thorburn, Jim Slater and James Wright will remain in tact.

It appears as though the writing is on the wall for young Scheifele, who could be returned to Barrie at a moments notice.

What's unfortunate is how this process is being drawn out by the Jets', as playing time for Scheifele somewhere — anywhere — would be better for him than eating popcorn in the pressbox.

Whether or not this plan has been hatched to extend his trial period remains unseen.

For the Penguins, it will be Tomas Vokoun in goal tonight as he will get the start between the pipes in place of Marc-Andre Fleury.
