Due to a myriad of reasons, this recap won’t be like my typical ones. This is mainly due to the Winnipeg Jets awful play last night leaving me in a grumpy state, only for it to get worse this morning when my Rogue’s driver’s side door malfunctioned leaving me scrambling to find a way back into my car (with engine running still). After some internet searching, I finally figured out how to unlock the other 3 doors to get into my vehicle, but the driver’s side door still won’t open. Great fun.

So here is my bad mood recap of last night’s match……

The Jets came out flat and allowed Philadelphia to skate circles around them in the opening period. The Flyers capitalized early when a bad pinch/poor coverage allowed a 2 on 1 goal against, but failed to increase their lead on two powerplays. However, back at 5 on 5, the Flyers were able to bury a couple of rebounds on blocked shots to give them a 3-0 lead and 13 to 5 shot lead after the opening frame.

Things continued to get worse when a Winnipeg face-off win on a powerplay somehow lead to a 2 on 2 short-handed rush. Brossoit whiffed entirely on a fairly basic shot and the game was pretty much over 2:20 into the 2nd period. I put my note-taking pencil down after this and while the Jets did get some chances to score, it wasn’t until late in the 3rd frame when Connor pocketed his 19th of the season to make the final score 4 to 1.

This was clearly the worst game of the season for the Winnipeg Jets and the team really has to contemplate making some changes to the lineup to make the team more competitive. Despite scoring a goal, Kyle Connor has looked tentative since returning from injury and his poor play is hurting the top line’s performance. But even when the coaching staff make alterations, they do questionable things like taking Gabriel Vilardi off the top line and replacing him with Alex Iafallo. Right now, I am just too grumpy to be objective, so that is where this recap will end.
