To be perfectly clear I have barely paid attention to anything this week including Winnipeg Jets hockey due to writing over 200 report cards. Do not recommend, but alas, they are done and I am back to watching the Jets.

The Jets are an interesting team that seem to be able to do just enough to be relevant and possibly good, but not good enough to be emphatically good. They were emphatically good in 2017-2018, but that was six years ago now and they have been searching for that feeling ever since. The Blues are weirdly in the same place since they won the Stanley Cup and what it leaves us is two teams that are about even in the standings with the Jets being a single point up on the Blues with one more game played. Tonight’s game will be important.

Neither the Jets or the Blues are bad. In fact, as the standings show, both teams are decent. The Jets will go as far as their defence will let them because although Connor Hellebuyck is a better than average goalie, he also is only human and the defence needs to make his life easier. The Jets are also looking at getting more consistent offence from their forwards even though we know that production especially goals ebb and flow throughout the season. A consistent effort would go a long way.

Like I said, I have been tapped out of hockey for a week plus and have nothing to really say about the Blues outside of the fact the Jets are about evenly matched with them and the game should be good.
