Preview and GDT: Winnipeg Jets vs New Jersey Devils

Time: 7:00 PM CST
Channel: TSN3, MSG
Radio: TSN1290, Devils Hockey Network

The Winnipeg Jets and New Jersey Devils square off for the second and final time of the season tonight in Winnipeg. The Jets are winner of two in a row, while the Devils have points in three straight, including a win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday.

The first time these two teams met, back on October 4th, it was the Jets prevailing by a score of 5-4 in the shootout.

The Devils currently sit in last place in the Metropolitan Division, sporting a 3-5-4 record. Their top line of Taylor Hall, Jack Hughes and Kyle Palmieri is doing alright, but depth scoring hasn’t really shown up. First overall pick in 2017 Nico Hischier has one goal and five assists in 10 games thus far. Hall has just two goals on 40 shots, but is also sitting on 10 assists. Goaltending has also been an issue for the Devils, as the combined efforts of MacKenzie Blackwood and Cory Schneider have resulted in a .865 team save percentage.

The Jets, on the other hand have seen dominant goaltending from Connor Hellebuyck, but less so from Laurent Brossoit. Up front, Nikolaj Ehlers is on pace for a career year, Mark Scheifele is his usual good self, and Gabriel Bourque is on a two-game point streak.

Nathan Beaulieu looks to be healthy for the first time this season, and should make his debut tonight. C.J. Suess was sent back to the Manitoba Moose yesterday to make room for Beaulieu’s return.
