The Winnipeg Jets are playing the surprising Arizona Coyotes tonight on Hockey Night in Canada. The Coyotes have been a pleasant surprise this season and are looking to continue that tonight in Winnipeg while the Jets are looking to continue their strong play after beating the Buffalo Sabres last night.

The Jets have seen Cole Perfetti have a breakout season for the Jets after dealing with some unfortunate injuries the past couple of seasons. His breakout is needed by the Jets who have struggled to develop young, skilled forwards recently. This is good news for them as they are less adverse to taking small players in the first round than some teams. Their philosophy might pay off for them sooner rather than later.

The Coyotes are winning games after years of floundering and collecting good players. While the Mullet Arena is still sadly a thing for them, they have amassed a lot of good, young players thanks to being the dumping ground of bad contracts and players who have effectively retired for years. Yes, that was to make the cap floor and no one should pretend they were trying to field a competitive team, but they did perform a service for the other 29-31 NHL teams allowing them out of bad contracts.

The Coyotes have good players like Clayton Keller leading them and their patience paying off and making them a sneaky team for a wild card spot. It would be good for a team that as slowly drafted and developed to take the next step.
