The Winnipeg Jets are on a road trip to California which usually means games at ungodly hours, but not today. Today they will be playing the Anaheim Ducks at the very pleasant time of 7:00 PM. The Jets will be looking to extend their three game winning streak against the Ducks who started the season off well, but have since fallen off the cliff. They still have some good players though, so the Jets will have to be careful.

The Ducks are led by Trevor Zegras who became known for scoring lacrosse goals last year, but is also a skilled player beyond that. However, he is hurt this season and has been out for over a month (after only getting two points this season). With Zegras out, Frank Vatrano has been leading the way with Mason McTavish making up a solid supporting cast. The Ducks just are not good enough to take advantage of some of their good offensive weapons that they have. It’s a shame because the Ducks could be a really fun team to watch if they were just better.

The Jets have been fairly consistent this season after a bit of an uneven start. They found their legs while Rick Bowness was away from the team for family reasons. Under Scott Arniel, they were able to really get going and play their best. This allowed them to move up the standings. They are currently third in the Central which keeps them out of the Wild Card for the time being. They do have a sizeable lead on the Nashville Predators who are fourth in the Central.

The Jets are getting contributions from their whole roster with their top players delivering like they should be. Even with some of the mistakes they make, the good outweighs the bad with them and they have collectively been playing up to their potential. It is a nice change from a few years ago when it seemed like the top players were not supported by a supporting cast that allowed them to be their best. It is deserved for the fans who have stuck around through some interesting teams.
