The Winnipeg Jets and Minnesota Wild are playing tonight, but that isn’t super important right now.
There is supposed to be roster information here, but instead we are going to talk and not about the roster. Yes, this is mostly because I was working all day and missed the Blake Wheeler news as well as the interesting lineup decisions.
First of all: breakthrough infections do happen with COVID, but outcomes have been more positive from those who have been vaccinated like Wheeler has. It is expected that NHLers will get sick this year and that is why it is important that they are vaccinated. It is important that people are vaccinated for this reason. Hopefully Wheeler is able to recover without much difficulty and returns only when he is 100%.
Second of all: Cole Perfetti should be playing. He should be playing regularly or in the AHL no questions asked. Playing seven defencemen instead of Cole is a damming statement about Paul Maurice as a coach. He has a capable young player sitting there and he would prefer to put his team at a disadvantage rather than play that player. I don’t know if there is anything to say about it at this point other than Maurice loves his guys and he doesn’t care how much it hurts the Jets.
