Right winger Beau Bennett has retired from pro hockey. Drafted in the first round, 20th overall, in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins, Bennett has 64 points (24G, 40A) in 200 games, as well as six points (2G, 4A) in 21 playoff games, for Pittsburgh (2012/13-2015/16), New Jersey (2016/17), and St. Louis (2017/18). Struggling to find his place on the roster early in his career and increasingly hampered by injuries, Bennett wound up with career highs of 19 points and eight goals in 2017 with New Jersey and 11 assists in 2013 with Pittsburgh and 2017 with New Jersey. Bennett was awarded a Stanley Cup ring for Pittsburgh’s 2016 Cup win, but he missed the 41-game threshold and the one Cup Final game criterion to have his name engraved on the Cup. Bennett finished his last NHL season with zero points in six games for St. Louis, as well as 57 points in 60 games for AHL Chicago, in 2017/18. He finished his last pro season in 2019/20 with 40 points in 55 games for AHL Tucson. Bennett, 29, will be joining the ProMentor app, which offers sports training for school-aged athletes.
