Left winger Mathieu Perreault has retired from pro hockey. Drafted in the sixth round, 177th overall, of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, by the Washington Capitals, Perreault has 352 points (143G, 209A) in 708 games, as well as 16 points (5G, 11A) in 51 playoff games, with the Washington Capitals (2009/10-2012/13), Anaheim Ducks (2013/14), Winnipeg Jets (2014/15-2020/21), and Montreal Canadiens (2021/22). Perreault’s career highs are 45 points in 2017 with Winnipeg, 18 goals in 2014 with Anaheim and 2015 with Winnipeg, and 32 assists in 2016 and 2017 with Winnipeg. Perreault never quite got to the 20-goal or the 50-point marks in a season, but a quick glance at his numbers shows that he missed considerable amounts of his best seasons due to injuries. He really was a solid producer throughout his career who could slot on any line at any position. Injuries hampered his performance as age 30 came and went, and he failed to reach the 10-goal or 20-point marks in his final three seasons. Perreault finished his final NHL season with nine points (4G, 5A) in 25 games for the Canadiens. Perreault, 34, has been hired as a broadcaster with TVA Sports.
