We’re halfway through Winnipeg’s midnight madness games! I can see the light of the afternoon sun just over the horizon. Also on the horizon is the dreaded Calgary Flames roster. This team Winnipeg will face, however, is not the same Flames team it last endured. The Jets are playing a new-look Darryl Sutter team, though it’s hard to tell if that’s a good thing from Calgary’s perspective. At the bare minimum, the Flames should be a lot more competent than they were under Geoff Ward.
Winnipeg will need to watch out for Andrew Mangiapane. The young forward continues to grow into his scoring role and supplements a solid top unit with Gaudreau and Lindholm. The Flames have been inconsistent this year so it’s tough to say if they’ll give the Jets any real trouble. Considering Vancouver and Ottawa have bullied the Jets at times (despite losing), I’m not super confident!
