Preview: Vancouver Canucks vs. Winnipeg Jets

Time: 9:00 PM CST

Channel: TSN3

Radio: CJOB680/Power97

Winnipeg’s entering the start of an extremely busy schedule against a lot of the North Division’s tougher customers. The Canucks, at least, provide a slightly softer start to what will be a meatgrinder run against Montreal and Toronto. On Friday, though, Vancouver showed it was more than up for a fast-paced sprint with the Jets. Despite struggling to control the game after the midway point, Winnipeg still prevailed thanks to Laurent Brossoit’s shutout.

The Jets can’t expect lightning to strike twice, so they’ll want to figure out how to defuse Vancouver’s pressure. The Canucks were able to wreak havoc against Winnipeg’s defense as the game wore on. Keeping the pucks out of the slot would do wonders for my nerves and Hellebuyck’s workload. If the Jets can grab 2 more points against Vancouver, it should build some confidence for the upcoming brutal stretch.
