Preview: Winnipeg Jets vs Ottawa Senators

Time: 6:30 PM CST

Channel: TSN3

Radio: TSN1290

The Winnipeg Jets are playing the Ottawa Senators with former Sens defenceman Dylan DeMelo in the lineup I assume. It will be a change for DeMelo who is used to being on one of the worst teams in the league as the Sens have been really bad this year as almost everyone predicted.

The Sens have not been getting great results out of Craig Anderson, so unlike previous years he is not stealing them many games. This adds to their pretty bad defence and offence that is both young in places and simply not good at scoring in others. One person who was scoring early on was Anthony Duclair. Duclair scored a lot of goals in the first half of the season, but has been struggling to score since then. Another player to watch is Brady Tkachuk. He is a sophomore and a bit of a pest. He can impact games by scoring or annoying someone.

As for the Jets, they should be debuting DeMelo tonight and that should help shore up their defence a bit. This is the type of trade that the Jets should have made earlier in the season and the only downside is that DeMelo is on an expiring contract. Maybe the Jets can extend him and keep him over some of their other more expensive and not very good options.

Finally, the Jets will probably be keeping their new look lines going tonight. Say what you want about them, but did another expect Paul Maurice to keep Mark Schiefele and Blake Wheeler apart for three months? Nope? Same.

Prediction

The Sens do something that makes me hate them more than I already do.
