Preview and GDT: Winnipeg Jets vs Edmonton Oilers

Time: 7:00 PM CDT

Radio: TSN1290

The Winnipeg Jets are playing another pre-season game against a team from Alberta. This time the Jets are playing the Edmonton Oilers who played last night. It is unlikely that Connor McDavid will play tonight for that reason, but let it be known that the Oilers have their captain back.

Meanwhile, there is still no movement for the Jets on Patrik Laine or Kyle Connor and things are starting to hit a critical point. Both players are vital to the Jets offence and with the team having hit such a defensive loss without Dustin Byfuglien and Jacob Trouba, so the Jets will need as much offence as they can get which will be severely cut down if they don’t get at least one of Connor or Laine signed soon.

As for the rest of the Jets, Josh Morrissey needs to be wrapped in bubble wrap for the duration of pre-season following him leaving the game after blocking a shot. As previously stated, the Jets are thin on the back end especially without Byfuglien and need all the help they can get from anyone, but especially Morrissey who is probably their best defenceman period. They need to be careful with his this pre-season as a lot is riding on him.

I believe the Jets have a pretty bad record in pre-season this year. While not necessarily a sign of things to come, it can be a sign that the upcoming season will be rough. The Jets have too many variables to declare that yet, but if their ducks don’t all get in a row, things could be bad.
