Brendan Lemieux has a hearing

In the least surprising move of the season, Winnipeg Jets forward Brendan Lemieux has a hearing with the Department of Player Safety for his illegal check to the head of Vincent Trocheck. It will most likely occur in the next couple of days once the Jets are back from Finland.

The Department of Player Safety has a long time to make a decision because the Jets do not play again until Friday, November 9. A decision has to be rendered before then.

Lemieux should be suspended. He seemed to hit Trocheck in the head and after the puck was released. He was given a match penalty on the play which indicates an indefinite suspension pending a hearing. He was also given a five minute penalty. The hearing is simply proof that the match penalty was deserved and not rescinded after the fact.

Lemieux has played in nine games this season, record zero points and 27 penalty minutes. Expect Jack Roslovic to replace him in the lineup next game.
