Cole’s Notes from Around the League: 6/17/17-6/23/17 – Expansion and Draft Edition

To keep things less cluttered, I will list each expansion draft pick next to the team they were picked from.

Anaheim Ducks (Clayton Stoner – D)

The Ducks signed winger Nicolas Kerdiles to a contract extension. They acquired Vegas’ guarantee to take Stoner. They signed winger Patrick Eaves to a contract extension.

Arizona Coyotes (Teemu Pulkkinen – R)

The Coyotes acquired goaltender Chad Johnson, defenceman Brandon Hickey, and a conditional 2018 third-round pick. They acquired centre Derek Stepan and goaltender Antti Raanta from the Rangers. They acquired defenceman Niklas Hjalmarsson from Chicago. Winger Martin Erat, who last played in the NHL for Phoenix/Arizona from 2013/14 to 2014/15, has signed in Czechia with the Czech Extraliga’s HC Kometa Brno.

Boston Bruins (Colin Miller – D)

The Bruins made no moves this week.

Buffalo Sabres (William Carrier – L)

The Sabres acquired defenceman Nathan Beaulieu from Montreal. They acquired Vegas’ guarantee to take Carrier.

Calgary Flames (Deryk Engelland – D)

The Flames acquired goaltender Mike Smith from Arizona.

Carolina Hurricanes (Connor Brickley – L)

The Hurricanes acquired Vegas’ guarantee to take Brickley. They acquired defenceman Trevor van Riemsdyk and a 2018 second-round pick from Vegas.

Chicago Blackhawks (Trevor van Riemsdyk – D)

The Blackhawks acquired defenceman Connor Murphy and centre Laurent Dauphin from Arizona. They acquired winger Brandon Saad, goaltender Anton Forsberg, and a 2018 fifth-round pick from Columbus. They acquired a 2017 first-round pick and a 2017 third-round pick from Dallas.

Colorado Avalanche (Calvin Pickard – G)

The Avalanche made no moves this week.

Columbus Blue Jackets (William Karlsson – C)

The Blue Jackets acquired Vegas’ guarantee to take Karlsson. They acquired winger Artemi Panarin, winger Tyler Motte, and a 2017 sixth-round pick from Chicago. They acquired winger Jordan Schroeder from Minnesota.

Dallas Stars (Cody Eakin – C)

The Stars signed defenceman Ludwig Bystrom to a contract extension. They acquired a 2017 first-round pick from Chicago.

Detroit Red Wings (Tomas Nosek – C)

The Red Wings made no moves this week.

Edmonton Oilers (Griffin Reinhart – D)

The Oilers acquired winger Ryan Strome from the Islanders. They signed defenceman Kris Russell to a contract extension.

Florida Panthers (Jonathan Marchessault – C)

The Panthers acquired a 2018 fourth-round pick from Vegas.

Los Angeles Kings (Brayden McNabb – D)

The Kings made no moves this week.

Minnesota Wild (Erik Haula – C)

The Wild acquired a third-round pick in 2017 or 2018. They acquired winger Dante Salituro from Columbus.

Montreal Canadiens (Alexei Emelin – D)

The Canadiens acquired a third-round pick from Buffalo. They acquired defenceman David Schlemko from Vegas.

Nashville Predators (James Neal – R)

The Predators made no moves this week.

New Jersey Devils (Jon Merrill – D)

The Devils acquired defenceman Mirco Mueller and a 2017 fifth-round pick from San Jose.

New York Islanders (Jean-Francois Berube – G)

The Islanders acquired Vegas’ guarantee to take Berube. They acquired winger Jordan Eberle from Edmonton.

New York Rangers (Oscar Lindberg – C)

The Rangers acquired defenceman Anthony DeAngelo and a 2017 first-round pick from Arizona.

Philadelphia Flyers (Pierre-Edouard Bellemare – C)

The Sharks signed defenceman Tim Heed to a contract extension. They signed defenceman Joakim Ryan to a contract extension. They signed centre Ryan Carpenter to a contract extension. They acquired a 2017 second-round pick and a 2017 fourth-round pick from New Jersey.

St. Louis Blues (David Perron – L)

The Blues acquired winger Brayden Schenn from Philadelphia. They acquired centre Oskar Sundqvist and a 2017 first-round pick from Pittsburgh.

Tampa Bay Lightning (Jason Garrison – D)

The Lightning signed goaltender Peter Budaj to a contract extension. They acquired Vegas’ guarantee to take Garrison.

Toronto Maple Leafs (Brendan Leipsic – L)

The Golden Knights made their selections in the Expansion Draft. They have acquired defenceman Shea Theodore from Anaheim. They acquired a 2017 sixth-round pick from Buffalo. They acquired a 2017 fifth-round pick from Carolina. They acquired winger David Clarkson, a 2017 first-round pick, and a 2019 second-round pick from Columbus. They acquired winger Reilly Smith from Florida. They acquired centre Alex Tuch from Minnesota. They acquired centre Mikhail Grabovski, defenceman Jake Bischoff, a 2017 first-round pick, and a 2019 second-round pick from the Islanders. They acquired a 2020 second-round pick from Pittsburgh. They acquired winger Nikita Gusev, a 2017 first-round pick, and a 2018 second-round pick from Tampa Bay. They acquired a 2017 first-round pick and a 2019 third-round pick from Winnipeg.
