Defenceman Mark Streit, who began this season with Montreal, has retired from pro hockey. Drafted in the ninth round, 262nd overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by Montreal, Streit has 434 points (96G, 338A) in 786 games, as well as 15 points (4G, 11A) in 34 playoff games, for Montreal (2005/06-2007/08, 2017/18), the Islanders (2008/09-2012/13), Philadelphia (2013/14-partway through 2016/17), and Pittsburgh (part of 2016/17). He won a Stanley Cup with Pittsburgh in 2017 and represented the Islanders in the 2009 All-Star Game.
