Winnipeg Jets goalies and players are going to the World Cup of Hockey

Connor Hellebuyck will be the oldest goalie on U24 (23 and under) team at the World Cup by a month when he suits up for the team in September in the oddest incarnation of the World Cup of Hockey to date. Meanwhile, Ondrej Pavelec is with the Czech Republic again because they have no other goalies available.

The young guns team has some major omissions from their preliminary roster including, but not limited to, Mark Scheifele, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Alex Galchenyuk, Max Domi, Anthony Duclair, Jacob Trouba, Shayne Ghostisbehere, Dougie Hamilton, and Nathan Beaulieu. While these players are still eligible for the team, it is really interesting that J.T. Miller made it over that forward group. Anyway, time to fire up the outrage machine for when Team USA and Team Canada get named in a few minutes.

Update:

The rest of the rosters have been released. Both Dustin Byfuglien and Blake Wheeler were named to the US team where we can expect them to fill the roles of Ryan Suter’s defensive partner and linemate of Ryan Kesler and Justin Abdelkader.
