FlightZone: Velkommen, Nikolaj

The Winnipeg Jets made a good draft pick and the Vancouver Canucks made a couple weird trades.

The Winnipeg Jets drafted Nikolaj Ehlers ninth overall and I asked Halifax Mooseheads fan DaftPuck about him. Here's what he said: He can definitely create. His take-off speed is quick and when in flight he can really move flowingly. Has amazing hockey sense. His passing is hard and accurate. If you ever get a chance read his tweets. The guy cares a lot about hockey and his family.

Daft also knew he'd be a special player the first time he watched him play.

An Ehlers profile from September.

And one from today. I say PoMo hires Caroline as an assistant coach when she turns 18.

And a reminder that Ehlers is really good at hockey.

Montreal Canadiens pick Nikita Scherbak had fun when being interviewed by James Duthie.

The draft had some fun moments, including Garth Snow poo-pooing the character knocks on Josh Ho-Sang.

Ryan Kesler was traded to the Anaheim Ducks and not the Chicago Blackhawks.

Mike Ribeiro was bought out by the Arizona Coyotes due to behavioural problems. This is a regular buy-out.

The Vancouver Canucks are blowing up and therefore they traded Jason Garrison for a pick.
