Julian Melchiori, come on down! You're the next contestant on the Winnipeg Jets blueline! - Harry How
The 2010 3rd-round draft pick (87th pick overall) comes up from the Ice Caps as the Jets need some depth on the blue-line following the gruesome injury to Zach Redmond.
With Tobias Enstrom and Zach Redmond both on the IR for the foreseeable future, it was a given that the Winnipeg Jets would bring up a d-man from 'The Rock'. If you had Julian Melchiori in the "who is coming up" pool, go collect your winnings.

So what can I tell you about Melchiori? Well, not very much, though I do recall him looking pretty good at the prospects camp in the summer.
The 21-year-old Melchiori stands 6'4" and 209 lbs, and doesn't look like he'll be here to provide much offense. Down in St. John's this season, the left-hand shot has zero goals and 4 assists, a -3 rating (which is pretty good on a bad team) and 39 PIM's in 33 games.
Derek Meech might have seemed like the logical call-up, but according to this article from the The Telegram, Meech has missed the past 3 games with concussion-like symptoms though he is traveling with the Ice Caps.
So what say you? Do we expect him to get into any games if nobody else gets hurt? Or do we want him to get into a game or two as he can't be worse than Grant Clitsome has looked the past few games? Let us know in the comments section!
