NHL Injuries and Scratches 2005-06 to Present

I just uploaded a dataset for anyone who's interested in to play with: http://behindthenet.ca/scratches.txt. These are the official reported regular season scratches since the lockout.

Columns are:

1) ESPN game number

2) Team

3) Player

4) Reason

5) Month

6) Day

7) Year

8) Datenum

9) Team Number

10) Injury type (1 = Scratch, 2 = Healthy, 0 = all other)

11) Season (2005-06 = 1)

Enjoy...

The NHL should really track these stats.

agreed. there’s a lack of injury data that’s easily available, unless I just haven’t found it. Gabe, have you posted IR data (like days on IR for players or teams) anywhere?

yeah, i saw they have days on LTIR. I was wondering about IR also. Or, ideally, scratches due to injury (like you posted), IR, and LTIR all together.

Somebody was doing this a couple of years ago. I can’t find the link. But it’s too much manual effort AFAIC
