I wish you’d put an option for > 132. I would have taken it.

Instead I was forced to go with something rational.

you mean like less than or equal to 59 points? ;)

I can’t imagine what sort of injuries would need to happen for the Oilers to get those sort of point totals.

In theory, there is little difference between practice and theory, but in practice there is!

agreed. I think Oilers should be in the 75-80 point range.

Sins can be forgiven but conscience is a killer.

This seems linked to the Leafs poll for me

I can’t vote on this one and the responses look identical to the poll for the Leafs.

If you look at the Leafs poll, you’ll notice the title has changed to “How many points will the Oilers get in 2010-11?” I don’t know what the results are reflective of, but I’m assuming its showing the Leafs totals since there’s already 325 votes.

same here.

The Leafs may not be good, but hell, at least they have a front office that’s awake. The Oil are heading for another lottery pick.

I don’t know when it will happen, but I expect the Oilers to eventually shoot up the standings. They remind me a lot of the Tampa Bay Rays from about 5-6 years ago.

Eberle, Hall, Rajala, Pajaarvi-Svenson … with 2 or 3 of those guys living up to their potential, that’s a really great group. That said, I expect them to get another top 2 or 3 pick this year to add to their group of prospects.

Yes, but then they’ll bury them under terrible veteran contracts, in addition to paying all of those players market value, instead of getting good use out of their ELC. Their ceiling under current management is where the Maple Leafs were before the lockout – trying to sell themselves as contenders, but realistically being a 5-10 team in their conference.

The Leafs’ front office is definitely awake. Whether they’re actually improving the team is a different question.

A part of me wants to select something less than 70 points due to the presence of J-F Jacques on their team. But I think they’ll do as well as the Leafs in this coming season.

With the utter lack of defense that i see on this team, and goaltending, and young forwards that don’t play defense, i’m predicting a fairly unmitigated disaster. They’ll probably do as well as TB did last year under similiar circumstances, at best.

On the Mike Weber bandwagon.
Everything wrong with the Sabres is Drew Stafford's fault.

I agree with ubiquitous

They have a great offensive upside but wow – that teams is going to be completely unable to keep the puck out of their own net.

by Rob Vollman on Aug 28, 2010 11:54 AM EDT up reply actions

Goaltending aside, the puck’s going to be in the Oilers’ net a lot because they’re spending a ton of time in their own end.

Which means they’re not spending as much time in the other team’s end of the ice, which means they decidedly will not have a good offense. Not this season anyway.

80-84

I’m an optimist.

Unless, of course, each of the Big Three blow expectations out of the water and average 60 pts apiece. PLAYOFFS BABY!!!!11
