Jacob Trouba Suspended Two Games

The defender is rightfully suspended for a hit to the head of Mark Stone.

The Winnipeg Jets have learned that defenceman Jacob Trouba will miss the next two games following a hit to the head of Ottawa Senators forward Mark Stone.

This move leaves the Jets defence worse than normal as Tobias Enstrom is still out with an injury and has been on injured reserve since February 12. This means the Jets will most likely have Mark Stuart and Ben Chiarot in the lineup come tomorrow.

It is hard to say why this hit was suspended and Evgeni Malkin’s hit on Blake Wheeler was not, but the maddening inconsistency of the Department of Player Safety does not mean that the Trouba hit was not absolutely a suspendible hit.

After tomorrow’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs the Winnipeg Jets will have a week off and then will play the Minnesota Wild to round out the two games Trouba will miss. The Jets would have to send someone to the AHL to call up another defender.
