The Winnipeg Jets will be taking on the Vancouver Canucks at 4 pm CST today in Penticton, BC if anyone is interested in watching the young players try to impress their respective coaching staffs.
The WinnipegJets.com site typically will put up an article with a title like Game Day once the contest starts and it will include a link to watch the two squads clash. I will also provide the link here in the article once I am able to access the game.

Both squads won their opening games, with Winnipeg topping Calgary 4-3 in overtime and Vancouver shutting out Edmonton 2-0. So it will be a chance for the Jets to take over sole possession of the top spot in the standings.
The Winnipeg Jets’ coaching staff will likely give some new faces a chance to get into the action, with the Manitoba Moose’s Ben Zloty and Ben King being a couple players that I would like to see on the ice. I expect the higher end prospects like Brad Lambert, Nikita Chibrikov, Elias Salomonsson, Brayden Yager, & Colby Barlow will stay in the lineup, but it would also be nice to see guys who had good games versus the Flames get a chance to build on that (Daniel Torgersson, Danny Zhilkin, & Jacob Julien). Of course, I expect to see Dominic DiVincentiis get his first start in the crease for Winnipeg.
While there hasn’t been any word on the expected Jets’ lineup, the preview article at WinnipegJets.com confirms some of the changes I noted above:
https://www.nhl.com/jets/news/gameday-jets-vs-canucks
“There will be some lineup changes for today’s game against the Canucks starting with Dominic DiVincentiis in goal and Ben Zloty, Carson Golder, Ben King, Mark Liwiski and Luke Mistelbacher getting their first chance this weekend.“
Winnipeg Jets’ projected lines from reporter Jamie Thomas:
Kevin He – Brad Lambert – Ben King
Colby Barlow – Brayden Yager – Nikita Chibrikov
Markus Loponen – Jacob Julien – Luke Mistelbacher
Carson Golder – Kieran Walton – Mark Liwiski
Dmitry Kuzmin – Elias Salomonsson
Ben Zloty – Dawson Barteaux
Dylan Anhorn – Hunter Mayo
Domenic DiVincentiis
Thomas Milic
The Canucks will be a challenge for the young Jets’ prospects, as they feature an intimidating top forward unit of Jonathan Lekkerimäki, Arshdeep Bains, and Aatu Räty. Here is a look at all those who received invitations from Vancouver for this year’s Young Star Classic:
I will be back here at 4 pm to discuss the game with anyone interested, so this article can act as a Game Day Thread as well. I will also be adding a Game Recap later tonight….so come back to read that if you don’t get a chance to watch the game yourself.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone. Go Jets!!!
