Here is what's in the news for Friday, October 12, 2012:
Winnipeg Jets’ players have been complimentary towards their minority owner, Mark Chipman, as if any player would ever speak out against their owner anyway. Said Jim Slater: “There are a couple of owners that definitely rub guys the wrong way. It’s a handful people aren’t too happy with. I have no hard feelings (towards Chipman) at all. He’s been first-class with me the whole way.” [Winnipeg Sun]
Olli Jokinen has been spending a lot more time with his young family during the early stages of the lockout, which he considers a silver lining: “I think the most-positive thing is you can stay active with your kids. You can enjoy the things that you don’t normally get the chance to enjoy. At the same time you respect your wife a lot more because you start to realize what they go through in the year, you know?” [WFP]
Bryan Little chimes in on how fans must feel now that the lockout has reached the regular season: “Usually when they recognize you, they’re pretty polite and say, ‘Get back soon, we miss it,’ and stuff like that. But I’m sure they’re not as polite behind our backs. If I was a fan, I’d be frustrated and angry with everyone involved. They’re being patient. The Michigan Wolverines started their regular season last night and Jacob Trouba had himself a whale of a performance, finishing with a goal and an assist. Michigan fell to RIT 5-4 in overtime. [Western College Hockey Blog]

The Colorado Eagles have named their roster for opening night as they prepare to get destroyed by Brandon Dubinsky, Nate Thompson and the rest of the Alaska Globetrotters Aces. [CBS Northern Colorado]
