Winnipeg Jets at New York Rangers Gameday Questionnaire: The “clown” edition

After dropping two games in a row including a tough divisional loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, the Winnipeg Jets are back on Broadway looking for a win against the New York Rangers later this evening.

As part of our gameday coverage, we had a few questions relating to the Rangers before puck-drop tonight.

With that, here is our pal Joe Fortunato from Blueshirt Banter in today's instalment of Gameday Questionnaire:

1. Do many Rangers fans agree with Sean Avery’s recent assessment of John Tortorella, in which he called his former coach a clown?

I'm sure many Rangers fans do right now, because they're annoyed with the team's struggles and want something to grab onto. In situations like these, generally the coach is the one to get all the blame. So, yes, some fans feel that Avery is correct. I don't agree, however. This is a team that isn't getting any scoring from its top players, which kind of throws a wrench in the whole system. Do I agree Tortorella could made a few adaptions that might help this team? Yeah, but I still think he's the right man for this team.

2. How active do you see the Rangers' brass being at the NHL Trade Deadline?

I don't think the Rangers are going to be active at all. The team will most likely get a bigger return for Gaborik at the NHL Draft (unless someone panics and gives Sather a massive haul for him before Wednesday) and I think that's the route they'll end up taking. I do think the team is looking for a depth defenceman, but right now it wouldn't shock me if the Rangers didn't make a single move at the deadline.

3. True or false: The New York Rangers will make the 2013 playoffs?

I didn't know there would be a test. Not only did I not study, but I graduated college in 2010, so screw you and your pop quiz. The answer? I don't know. This team has shown me flashes that make me think they can win the Cup, and other flashes that make me think they can be the worst team in the NHL. So, as I would do on a test, I'm leaving this question blank.

Ed. Note: We thank Joe for his for his time in this edition of Gameday Questionnaire. Look for our next edition of Gameday Questionnaire tomorrow with our pals from Lighthouse Hockey.
