Winnipeg Jets vs. Ottawa Senators Morning Skate: Who will score the first goal of the year for the Jets?

October 9, 2011 will be a day many Winnipeg Jets fans remember, and for good reason.

One day short of Thanksgiving, the entire Manitoban capital congregated before the pulpit to partake in three hours of sermon served up NHL style.

While the end result was as sacrilegious as they come — a 5-1 loss at the hands of the Montreal Canadiens — at the very least Winnipeg got to ring in their rebirth to in the NHL against one of the oldest, most prestigious franchises in league history.

Lost in the hoopla of the event itself was a bit of history forever engrained on the current incarnation of the Atlanta Thrashers record books. At the 17:33 mark of the third period, Nik Antropov scored the first goal since the Thrashers completed their metamorphosis into the Jets’ as a new chapter in team history was born.

Now, almost a year and a half later, the Jets' are prepared to commence their second season since flocking north of the border. The stat sheets have been wiped clean and the 2013 roster is primed to leave their everlasting mark on it.

While the first goal of 2013 will pale in comparison to that scored by Antropov against the Habs, we have to throw the question out to our community: Who will score the first goal of the season for the Winnipeg Jets when they host the Ottawa Senators later today?
