The Winnipeg Jets (5-0-0) will put their undefeated record on the line tonight when they square off with their Central division rivals, the St. Louis Blues (4-2-0).
After starting the season with 5 games in 20 days, the Jets’ schedule picks up its pace as Winnipeg will have to play 10 contests in the next 20. The first game of a three game road trip for the True North franchise starts in Missouri before heading to Seattle and Calgary for the final two matches.
The Jets have had a bunch of players start the 2024-25 campaign off strong, but you could probably list the following as being the most impactful: Mark Scheifele (5 goals & 8 pts), Nikolaj Ehlers (2 goals & 7 pts), Josh Morrissey (7 pts), and Connor Hellebuyck (1.25 GAA/.952%).
Since the pre-game skate has yet to occur, I am not 100% on the lineup for this evening but if you go by what Winnipeg looked like during yesterday’s practice, we should see Rasmus Kupari slip back into the starting roster. Surprisingly based on how poorly he played versus the Penguins, Logan Stanley also appears set for his 2nd start of the season. Not it the least bit shocking, Hellebuyck should be back in between the pipes when the puck drops at 7 pm CST. Here is the projected roster, courtesy of PuckPedia:

The St. Louis Blues have seen some early success from one of their summer offer sheet targets, as defenseman Philip Broberg has averaged a point per game through the Blues’ opening 6 contests. Other skaters like Jordan Kyrou (6 pts), Robert Thomas (4 pts), Pavel Buchnevich (4 pts), & Justin Faulk (4 pts) have also had an early impact for the franchise. St. Louis has received strong goaltending performances from Joel Hofer in his 3 starts (2.32 GAA/.932%), but they are missing a couple key players due to injury (Nick Leddy, Torey Krug, & Oskar Sundqvist).
Here is what PuckPedia says the Blues’ lineup will look like tonight:

So, now that we know who is likely to be on the ice at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, lets check out how the teams & goaltenders compare so far this season.

After a sort of Jekyll & Hyde start to the season for the Winnipeg Jets, what type of game will the squad play tonight? Will we see the stingy defensive systems that we witnessed in wins over the Oilers, Blackhawks, & Wild or will it be another run & gun game like the matches versus the Sharks & Penguins?
Guess we will have to tune in tonight to find out for sure………….
