Preview: Winnipeg Jets vs. Colorado Avalanche

Time: 7:00 PM CST

It is a battle for standings in the Central Division as the Winnipeg Jets and Colorado Avalanche play tonight at Canada Life Centre. The Jets are back home after a horrible road trip they would like to forget and the trade deadline is nine days away. The Jets will want to turn it around and fast. But can they?

At one point the Avalanche looked to be in dire straits with a pile of injuries and being out of the playoffs. But the Avs started getting healthy and have played themselves into the top three in the Central Division. They are actually currently the second Wild Card team, but they also have three games in hand on the top three teams and are rolling along while all three teams are struggling. Because of course they are. They are not the current Stanley Cup Champions for nothing now. The Jets will be looking to stop their hot play with a cold reception in Winnipeg.

The Jets are still reeling from their play prior to the All Star Break and their gap week. They will be looking to turn things around again and take advantage of a fairly wide open and weak Western Conference down the stretch as well as hopefully entering the trade deadline hot. The Jets will need to start scoring, but they will also need to tighten up defensively. In short, the Jets need to change everything except for goaltending and I am struggling to see them pulling that off because I feel like we have heard this song before. I hope I am wrong about them, I really do. This team is hard to figure out 90% of the time.
