Barry Trotz Declines The Winnipeg Jets

The former Isles bench-manager will be stepping away from coaching for a spell.

My abundant hope for the upcoming Winnipeg Jets has utterly collapsed in less than 48 hours. With the news that Blake Wheeler and Pierre-Luc Dubois are seemingly looking to leave, things were already unwell in Winnipeg. Barry Trotz then drove the dagger through the proverbial heart by announcing he won’t be coaching for the foreseeable future. Trotz mentioned wanting to spend more time with his family, and who could fault the man for that? Seeing the Jets spiraling out of control probably made the decision a lot easier, but Barry did compliment Winnipeg’s pitch. Whatever the case may be, there can only be one true path forward; tear it down and rebuild.

If it wasn’t abundantly clear before, then the Jets surely know what they must do now. Discard notions of trying to convince Dubois and anyone else who wants out to stay. Let them seek greener pastures and use their trades to fuel the future core of the Jets. The coaching candidate pool in the meantime has narrowed to Arniel, Montgomery, Vincent, and a few others. At this rate, I just want someone who can help raise the kids on this team right. That is what Winnipeg needs to really kickstart the path to glory. Let me know who you’d like to see appointed, and which players you might want Winnipeg to part with in the comments below.
