Preview: Winnipeg Jets vs. Montreal Canadiens

Time: 7:00 PM CDT

Channel: TSN3

Radio: CJOB

The Winnipeg Jets are playing the Montreal Canadiens tonight which will give them the opportunity to play a team that made one of the oddest coaching moves in the NHL when they hired Martin St. Louis as their coach last year. St. Louis has proven to be a good coach and the Habs have improved from last year.

The Jets look like they will have Rick Bowness behind the bench and he is not happy with how the Jets are starting games which is good because it has been uneven at best. It sounds like he is working to fix the issue with the team. Expect the Jets to start out with a higher tempo and ready to go at puck drop.

The Habs are an interesting opponent. They are exactly .500, but that is almost better than expected based on last season. They have an incredibly young defence which is led by Kaiden Guhle. Their forwards are driven by Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield, who is the perfect example of how a coach can impact a player’s season when you look at his year last year. They also have 2022 first overall pick Juraj Slafkovsky who has been showing stead improvement throughout the season. It is likely Jake Allen will start in goal for them.
