How would you define the Winnipeg Jets? Last night’s game basically explains them perfectly to a new fan, but I must ask you the question as well.
With that out of the way, the Jets are playing the Arizona Coyotes in the most unintentionally hilarious arena in the NHL. First of all, the arena is called Mullett Arena. Their current visitors changing room looks like a convention centre floor set up as a field hospital with privacy curtains. It is so bad it is funny that the team shared this willingly.
Now for the game at hand; the Jets are on the second half of a back to back. The Coyotes, who are the Jets newest Central Division rivals, are the worst team in the division and the third worst team in the league. It is early, but this is about where they Coyotes were expected to be this year with a team that is populated by other teams cap casualties and their own drafted players. They have drafted some good players. Clayton Keller is off to a stellar start while they are waiting for Jakob Chychrun to return to health, but he has been another key young veteran for the Coyotes when healthy.
As for the Jets, they will most likely be starting David Rittich and nothing against Big Save Dave, but the Jets will need to be much better in front of him than the were last night against the Los Angeles Kings. Aside from improving just about everything except goaltending, the Jets should be good to go and hopefully on form tonight.
